CASE STUDY: Antrim Borough Council

Antrim Borough Council has a population of over 50,000 people, with a third of those in the 25-44 age group. Over half of the population of Antrim Borough live in Antrim town itself.

Antrim Forum, opened in 1972 was the first and largest multi-use activity centre in Northern Ireland and remains so to this day. The Forum offers an extensive range of facilities and activities including; a swimming pool, a dance studio and an international track and field stadium.

Antrim Borough Council wished to understand if local people felt that the Forum continued to meet their needs. The Council also saw this wave of research as an opportunity to gather constituent’s opinion on a wide range of matters that directly affected the borough.

KEY POINTS

  • CARD Group were recommended by a previous client to Antrim Borough Council and were invited to tender for this research project.
  • CARD Group deployed an approach tailored to Antrim Borough Council’s research needs. A unique question set was developed in partnership with the Council and research was conducted in a variety of towns throughout the district.
  • CARD Group has since been commissioned by other Councils to conduct research on a variety of topics within the North and South of Ireland.
